Goodbye 2014!... (Part Two)

Hours left till the dawn of a new year and while we spend away our salaries like we do every Christmas, here is my final adieu to 2014 which is me, looking back at MY most memorable moments of this year.

Hosting the Jump Off

Best part about my job is being able to fill in many different shoes and getting to experience a whole lot of different aspects of being on air. This year’s epic challenge and first memorable moment for me has got to be hosting The Jump Off.
I mean it’s no small feat covering for Corine. Even more when Hip Hop (no offense to hip hop heads), is soooo much slower than house music! God damn! Loved every second of it though and mostly thanks to being a part of a killer team that was Max on production and co-hosting with Frankie and Jinx! These guys made all three months of that period rock. Yes. Even the part when the Black Ops (tough as we sounded) lost the Safaricom X Games Challenge to virtually every other Homeboyz Radio show and their team.

The Schmoney Dance

Because let’s face it, since the ‘Gangnam Style’ era, the world had stayed too long without a ridiculous dance so came the ‘Shmoney Dance’ thanks to Bobby Shmurda’s ‘Hot Boy’ jam (which has waay to many remixes and covers if you ask me). It’s an indescribable dance move so I won’t be trying to explain it here, but it was apparently so cool, Jesus was doing it to. lol >>>

(Yeah I might be going to hell now)

The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Spun from what was and still is a good cause, this challenge spread quickly like a… like a… like whatever spreads fast (bushfire maybe?) thanks to the fact that world renowned celebrities (like Bill Gates in the picture) joined in. Didn’t do it myself but loved watching the videos online; (Find out more about the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge here)

Sauti Sol Winning Best African Act in the 2014 MTV European Music Awards

About time!! Since Camp Mulla’s near shot at world fame through a one time BET nomination, it turned out to be a good run for the 254 award-wise. First came Lupita (a year ago) winning an Oscar and then (this year) an MTV Award so it seems she paved the way for more of us to be recognized cause then came Sauti Sol’s hard earned MTV European Music Award nod. Take that people who didn’t think it could happen!

New Generation Arrives

Way too many people I know (myself included) are parents now which is probably to say that in a few years, our generation will be displaced. Do you see this happening already? Cause it’s happening! You’ll see it when all of a sudden the people you bump into at night clubs seem much too young, when Nicki Minaj goes ‘natural’ and it’s cool to do a dance called the ‘Schmoney Dance’. Yeah it’s happened already hasn’t it? And it’s hours left till you’re a yet another year older.
All in all, it’s been a good one. Ups and downs. New experiences. Lot’s of things to remember and while I couldn’t fit all of mine in this post, I look back at this year with one theme song in mind and that’s (Don’t judge me), Charlie XCX’s ‘Boom Clap’

What to look forward to in the next year? Pictures of my lovely daughter Alexis and more fun posts!!
Till then,
Happy 2015 (In advance)

Goodbye 2014! (Part One)

12 months, 52 weeks, 365 days and here you are with your 'un-achieved' new year goals from January 1st. That's alright... you and me both.

We're about to welcome yet another new year which makes this a great time to look back and see the moments that made 2014 memorable.

No, this isn't going to be a list of stories about my crazy escapades. Would have wanted to share those but I spent most of this year pregnant which means no alcohol and you know what they say, no epic story ever started with you eating a salad.

That said, my year in review will be in terms of movies and songs that made all 365 days of this year fly by so fast, it feels like just yesterday we were counting down into 2014.

Well here we go!

Part one: We start with the Big Screen Action! Here, dear readers, is my list of movies and animations I felt rocked or flopped.

That ROCKED!

About Last Night (****)

Michael Ealy. The End. I mean sure it was a Kevin Hart rib cracking classic but god damn Michael Ealy. Just... god damn!

Non Stop

Nothing memorable about it but hey, our girl Lupita got a shot at a second film! Way to represent the 254! And at least in this one she wasn't a slave.

Fault In Our Stars

Yup. Definitely a memorable film *happy sigh* What's a  whole year for if you don't get at least one film for the hopeless romantic living deep inside each of us. (Yeah you to. Don't act like it isn't true)

That Awkward Moment

Zac Efron did a great job on this one and yes! A film about the awkward moment when the person you're "seeing" (meaning having a good time with) wants you to define your relationship. Loved it! Even with its cheesy ending.

God's Not Dead

Considering not too many Christian flicks make it on most lists of epic films of the year, I loved this one. Have to give it up for that boy for standing up for God that way. Glad I never ran into a lecturer like that one in my day. Although there was this one...

and finally

Maleficent

I love animations but to be honest, this one made it onto the list because it was a nice change to see Angelina Jolie wear ridiculous horns and play the bad guy. Well, sort of the bad guy anyway. Not my favorite animation but definitely cool.

That FLOPPED!

Step Up... the one released this year.

Why?: How many times will they produce these things!!

The Muppets Most Wanted...

Why? No ... Just, no.

 Tammy...

Why? ... Don't know. It's probably just me.

Lol. There. That's my list of 2014 in film.

Love,
CrazyAwesomeRae
